What is known so far

There is no price yet. Here is what is behind one

A placeholder number would be easy and useless. What is worth publishing is the shape of the cost, because every reel spends real money at somebody else’s API.

Why there is no number on this page

toreel is not open. Publishing a price for something nobody can buy is a way of looking finished, and the number would change before the first person paid it. What can be said honestly is where the money goes.

What one batch actually spends

The two largest variable costs come from the two long stages. They are not the only ones that bill — the language model calls are not free either, they are simply small next to these:

• Filming the avatars — fifteen takes through an avatar engine, billed per video. The single largest line.
• Generating the covers — fifteen images through an image model, billed per image.
• Research and scripts — language model calls, cheap by comparison but not free.
• Transcription — one pass per reel to time the words against the footage.
• Montage and rendering — costs electricity rather than API credit, but it is where the hours go.

This is the reason a run is not something to fire off casually, and the reason the pipeline drops a hopeless reel instead of retrying it forever.

What a subscription has to cover

Any price has to sit above the cost of the batches somebody actually runs, which makes how often you run it the thing that matters rather than how many accounts you have. A person doing one subject a week and a person doing one a night are not the same customer.

There is also a second cost most tools leave out of their pricing page: publishing to each network involves app reviews and audits before a single post goes out. That is paid in weeks rather than dollars, and it is paid once, by whoever built the tool — the detail is here.

What early access means

Right now it means an address on a list and one email when the door opens. Not a discount code, not a countdown, not a tier — there is nothing to tier yet. The list exists so the first people through are people who wanted in before there was anything to want.
